I was reading 1st Kings and thinking about Elijah the prophet the word of the lord had come to Elijah and in those days the children of Israel were doing there own thing such as idolatry and turning their heart completely away from God. In those days you were killed for professing Gods kingdom . Jezebel was killing all of the lords prophets. Fearing for his life Elijah fled and came upon a juniper tree which he slept under. I am sure Elijah was exhausted and scared for his life. Jezebel had called him by his name to have him killed. I never had someone want to take my life but I could only imagine how hard his heart must have been pounding. Elijah felt as if this journey was to much for him he asked the lord to take his life he wanted to die rather then to press on. I can definitely identify with wanting to give up. I never had someone try to kill me but circumstance may persuade some of us to wish we were dead life is not flowers all the time. While Elijah was sleeping God sent an angel to touch him so that he may eat, strength had left his body and he was weak. After the angel told Elijah to eat he touched him and told him to eat again because the "journey is too great for thee" 1st Kings 19;7. How many times do we think that this journey is too great for us but the lord sends his angels to strengthen us. How many times have I wondered how I was going to make it and the lord provided for me? I have to admit that sometime I take for granted Gods goodness. Sometime we just expect things to happen forgetting that it is God who supplies our needs. If it wasn't for is hand on us where would we be? Our God is one that will strengthen us even when we don't want to go on. God is not there to just give us a will to do and not strengthen us along the journey. When we give up he doesn't. His ways are not our ways. Once his hand is upon you it does not leave you until God states other wise we give our life to Christ its not up to us to decide when our life should end that is the fathers plan. Have I ever been where Elijah is ? Of course did the lord carry me through? Of course! God gave me enough grace and mercy to get through. God sent his angels to protect and his holy spirit to comfort me. Seek comfort in the lord! Praise Him!
